ʻŌlelo Community Media has announced a five-year partnership with the Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) to broadcast and livestream OHA’s committee and board meetings across the islands. The initiative seeks to strengthen civic engagement and ensure Native Hawaiians have greater access to decisions shaping their communities.
The collaboration will expand stable livestream coverage beyond the boardroom on Oʻahu, allowing OHA to host and share meetings from neighbor islands. The effort reflects OHA’s commitment to bringing its work closer to the people it serves, while ʻŌlelo provides the digital infrastructure and expertise to connect communities statewide.
OHA Chair Kaialiʻi Kahele said the partnership represents an important step in providing connectivity and expanding access to the agency's decision-making process. ʻŌlelo President and CEO Roger McKeague emphasized that open communication and civic participation are essential to a thriving community.
